Pilgrim - Follow the Pope

Pilgrim - Follow the Pope ("we", "our", or "the App") is a free mobile application designed to assist pilgrims during Pope Leo XIV's apostolic journeys in 2026. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information We Collect

1. Location Data (Optional)

If you grant permission, the App may access your device's GPS location to:

Show nearby venues and walking directions
Auto-detect your current city
Display relevant local weather information

Location data is processed on your device and is not stored on our servers. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings or within the App's Settings screen.

2. Push Notifications (Optional)

If you enable push notifications, we use Expo Push Notification services to send you event reminders and schedule updates. Your push notification token is stored solely for this purpose.

3. Local Storage

The App stores your preferences (language, notification settings, temperature units, etc.) locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device.

Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not require account creation or login
We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any personal identification
We do not collect payment information (in-app purchases are handled entirely by Google Play)
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties
We do not track your browsing activity outside the App
We do not display advertisements or use advertising identifiers

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

Google Firebase — real-time event data and notifications (Privacy Policy)
Open-Meteo — weather data, no personal data sent (Terms)
Expo — push notifications (Privacy Policy)

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App's target audience is adults (18+).

Data Retention

All user preferences are stored locally on your device. We do not maintain any user databases or server-side profiles. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Deny or revoke location permissions at any time
Disable push notifications at any time
Clear locally cached data from the App's Settings screen
Uninstall the App to remove all local data

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
